NARA offers high quality training on a variety of records management topics, with several of them available free of charge. Below are the sessions that will be offered in Oregon for FY 2008. For dates, locations and course descriptions
of all of their classes in the Northwest, go to the To Register: You can register and view information about NARA training by creating an account on the Learning Management System at nara.learn.com. Questions?: Please email seattle.workshops@nara.gov or call 206.336.5115. NARA also provide workshops tailored to the specific records practices and requirements of your office. Tailored training integrates elements of our standard workshops with information relevant to your agency's unique records management concerns and your time constraints. Working with you, they can determine the training needs of your office and customize them to meet your needs. They can explain your office's specific records management policies and resources and adapt materials to apply to your own situation. Onsite tailored training can be more cost-effective than sending multiple staff to our general workshops. To reinforce the tailored workshops, we can also schedule visits with individual offices after the training to answer questions and address specific issues.
The Graduate School offers career-related and continuing education courses to professionals and federal, state and local employees throughout the country. The School annually enrolls 200,000 students in nearly 1,000 courses, which are available in a variety of subjects and convenient formats:
Established in 1921 by the secretary of agriculture, the Graduate School’s mission is to improve the performance of government and to provide opportunities for individual lifelong learning through education, training and related services. The Graduate School's courses are designed for employees from all departments and levels, not just those from the USDA. The Graduate School does not grant degrees and has never sought that authority. They prefer to focus on continuing education and training for working adults. Although associated with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Graduate School is self-sustaining and receives no federal funds. Their only source of income is tuition and fees. The Federal Executive Institute and the Management Development Centers serve government leaders and organizations to improve performance and enhance leadership through premier interagency residential training, unique customized courses and consulting, and innovative customer-focused service.
