Who We Are The Oregon Federal Executive Board's Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Shared Neutrals Program is a cooperative arrangement between diverse federal, county, state and other local agencies in the Pacific Northwest region. Each member agency makes a reciprocal agreement to submit requests for alternative dispute resolution services and to share resources cooperatively. The committee welcomes new member agencies in need of mediation support, as well as committee participants, particularly those with marketing, business planning or collective bargaining skills. This year the Shared Neutrals committee was privileged to have Jon Townsend of AgreementsWork present a day and a half training on Group Facilitation & Case Assessment during their Annual Meeting at the Evergreen School District in Vancouver, WA. Both these topics have consistently scored very high on the training surveys we have conducted with the cadre. This interactive workshop explored the subtleties of mediation vs. facilitation, case assessment, small group dynamics, along with many other useful tools and topics. Jon Townsend has worked for more than 33 years in the fields of mediation, facilitation, negotiation, diversity and cross-cultural conflict resolution, and peacemaking. His consulting firm, AgreementsWork, provides training and consultation in the areas of collaborative-based negotiation, workplace mediation, cross-cultural mediation and business negotiation, inter-cultural communication and workforce diversity, labor-management negotiation, and community and organizational development. 2006 Annual Meeting
2005 Annual Meeting The Shared Neutrals Training Committee was grateful to have Stephanie Bell back as the trainer for the 2005 Annual Meeting. Held May 12th at Gresham City Hall, the Shared Neutrals Board would like to thank Diane Williams for pulling the event together once again, the U.S. Forest Service for their support, and Andy Wiselogle of the City of Gresham for hosting. Approximately 40 mediators and liaisons from the program, as well as guests from the State of Oregon, were on hand to share ideas and learn. Stephanie Bell is a mediator, trainer, facilitator and the Assistant Program Manager for the King County Alternative Dispute Resolution Program and the Interlocal Conflict Resolution Group. Prior to this position, as the Alternative Dispute Resolution Coordinator for the City of Seattle, Stephanie designed and implemented an employment mediation Program for the City workforce. She has also served as the Program Manager for the King County Dispute Resolution Center, a private non-profit, and as a research attorney for the Federal Public Defender. Stephanie has been active with the Work of Byron Katie since 1999, and has attended and staffed six nine-day facilitation schools. 2004 Annual Meeting The 2004 Annual Meeting, held May 13th at the beautiful Wilsonville Water Treatment Center, was a fantastic day of information-sharing and catching up with old friends. Following a mediator and liaison roundtable discussion in the morning, special guest trainer David Hager led the group through a myriad of intriguing issues. Mr. Hager covered everything from coaching to dealing with a difficult neighbor. You can find out more about David's impressive background at www.davidhager.com.
